Born in New Zealand (home of the 'All Blacks') and have lived not only in New Zealand but Canada, USA and of late Australia. Accent is truely mixed up. No great threat to the world of academia but took up sailing at the age of 13 and never looked back, essentially living from day to day for 15 years working on fishing trawlers and Sailing ships. Left the safe secure job on the Auxilliary Ketch Falie to roam the worlds oceans as a nomadic sailor aboard traditional sailing vessels. Five years later, after a fantastic venture with more money than started, joined the Oil Industry on anchor handling ocean going tugs. Better leave (5 weeks on 5 weeks off) and a lot more money I now have a mortgage on a great property with water frontage and a desire to be back in the position of sailing as a nomad only with some reserves behind me. Present qualifications is Australian Master Class 1 (restricted) with square rig endorsement. Sated my sailing desires with a year and a half off sailing the Duyfken as Master but that is only a temporary fix. Looking for more adventure in the near future.
